Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
2. Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard engine.
3. Unbolt and remove the water pump housing to access the impeller.
4. Take note of the old impeller's blade orientation before removing it.
5. Clean any debris from the pump housing and inspect the housing and wear plate for scoring, cracks, or distortion.
6. Lightly coat the interior of the housing and the new impeller with marine grease.
7. Install the new impeller key into the driveshaft slot. Slide the new impeller onto the shaft while turning it clockwise to correctly orient the blades.
8. Reinstall the water pump housing, ensuring gaskets and seals are properly seated. Tighten bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
9. Reattach the lower unit to the engine.
10. Reconnect the battery. Before launching, use a flush attachment to supply water and verify that the engine is cooling properly by checking for a steady stream from the tell-tale outlet.
11. Always refer to your specific engine's official service manual for detailed instructions, diagrams, and torque values.
