Installation Notes

Disconnect the battery and spark plug wires for safety.
Place the outboard gear selector in the neutral position.
Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard's midsection by unbolting it.
Locate and unbolt the water pump housing to expose the old impeller.
Remove the old impeller, noting the direction of the vanes if they are still intact. Clean any debris from the housing.
Lightly grease the new impeller and housing interior with marine grease.
Slide the new impeller onto the drive shaft, turning the shaft clockwise to help seat the vanes correctly.
Reinstall the water pump housing, ensuring the key or pin is properly aligned.
Reattach the lower unit to the engine, making sure the drive shaft, shift shaft, and water tube align.
Reconnect the battery and test the engine using a water supply (flushing muffs) to confirm water is pumping correctly.
