Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and remove the propeller.
2. Drain the gearcase oil from the lower unit.
3. Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase from the driveshaft housing.
4. Locate and unbolt the existing water pump housing.
5. Remove the old housing, impeller, wear plate, and gaskets. Note the rotational direction of the old impeller's vanes.
6. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or sealant.
7. Install the new gaskets, wear plate, pump cup, and impeller. Lightly grease the interior of the housing and ensure the impeller vanes are turned in the correct direction of engine rotation.
8. Secure the new housing with the provided bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque in a crossing pattern.
9. Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly.
10. Refill the lower unit with the correct gearcase oil.
11. Reinstall the propeller and reconnect the battery.
12. Before open water use, test the engine in a test tank or with a flusher, verifying a strong, steady water stream from the tell-tale outlet.
