Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and shift the outboard into neutral.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase drain/fill screws to empty the oil.
3. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper leg. Carefully lower and detach it.
4. Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing to access the impeller and wear plate.
5. Clean the mounting surfaces and driveshaft, removing any old gasket material or debris.
6. Install the new components in the reverse order of removal: wear plate, gasket, impeller (with key), housing, seals, and O-rings. Ensure the impeller vanes are oriented correctly.
7. Securely tighten the new housing bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
8. Re-install the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are properly aligned.
9. Refill the gearcase with the correct type and amount of marine gear lubricant.
10. Once assembled, start the engine using a water supply (flushing muffs) to verify proper water pump operation (check for a steady stream from the tell-tale).
