Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and remove the emergency stop lanyard. Follow the engine manufacturer's safety instructions.
- Place the outboard in a stable service position and remove the lower unit according to the service manual for your exact model.
- Locate the water pump assembly on top of the lower unit and remove the pump cover or housing fasteners.
- Remove the used impeller and plate. Inspect the pump housing, drive key, shaft and mating surfaces for wear, corrosion or damage.
- Clean the mating surfaces and remove all residue without damaging the sealing surfaces.
- Install the replacement plate and impeller in the same orientation as the removed parts. Use only the lubricant and assembly method recommended for your engine.
- Reinstall the pump cover or housing and tighten the fasteners to the manufacturer's specification.
- Reinstall the lower unit, reconnect the shift linkage if applicable, and complete all adjustments required by the service manual.
- Run the engine in an appropriate test tank or in the water and confirm a steady cooling-water discharge before normal operation.
