Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and shift linkage before beginning work.
2. Remove the lower-unit bolts and carefully separate the gearcase from the engine midsection.
3. Unbolt and remove the old water-pump housing assembly from the gearcase.
4. Clean the mounting surfaces and driveshaft, removing old gasket material and debris.
5. Install the new wear plate, gasket and impeller key on the driveshaft.
6. Apply a marine-safe lubricant to the impeller and housing interior. Slide the impeller onto the driveshaft while turning it clockwise so the vanes seat correctly.
7. Install the pump cup and secure the housing assembly with the supplied bolts. Tighten fasteners to the engine manufacturer’s specified torque.
8. Reinstall the lower unit, reconnect the shift linkage and secure all bolts.
9. Run the engine in an appropriate water supply and confirm a strong, steady tell-tale stream before normal operation.
