Product Details

This aftermarket carburetor repair kit is designed for selected Johnson/Evinrude 2-stroke outboard carburetors in the 6–20 HP range. It is intended to replace worn gaskets and the carburetor needle-and-seat assembly during routine fuel-system service. The catalog relationship identifies this application as replacing Johnson/Evinrude O.E. numbers 439073 and 431897.

Use the exact engine model, year, carburetor configuration, and original part number to confirm fitment before ordering. Similar horsepower ratings can use different carburetor components, and this kit should not be treated as universal for every Johnson/Evinrude engine.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if the carburetor needs service?

Common symptoms include hard starting, rough idle, stalling, hesitation, fuel leakage, or poor response to throttle. These symptoms can also result from ignition, fuel-supply, or compression problems, so inspect the complete engine system before rebuilding the carburetor.

Will this kit fit an engine not listed above?

Do not assume fitment based only on horsepower. Verify the complete Johnson/Evinrude model number, model year, carburetor configuration, and original replacement number. Different carburetors may use different gasket profiles or needle-and-seat assemblies.

Is float-height adjustment required?

Yes. Whenever the needle-and-seat assembly or float is serviced, check the float setting against the engine's service manual. Incorrect float height can cause flooding, fuel leakage, or fuel starvation.

Do I need special tools?

Basic hand tools, a clean work surface, and suitable carburetor cleaner are normally required. A small measuring tool or float gauge may be needed for the adjustment specified in the service manual.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement carburetor service kit. The listed O.E. numbers are provided for identification and fitment comparison only.

How often should the carburetor be rebuilt?

There is no universal service interval. Service needs depend on fuel quality, storage duration, operating conditions, and whether fuel is left untreated in the carburetor. Inspect the fuel system whenever starting or running problems develop.

Safety & Important Information

  • Confirm the exact model, year, stroke, horsepower, shaft configuration, and original carburetor parts before ordering.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks and open flames. Gasoline and carburetor cleaner are flammable.
  • Do not reuse damaged gaskets or seals, and check for fuel leaks before operating the engine.
  • Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with carburetor service.
  • This product is an aftermarket replacement and is not manufactured by Johnson or Evinrude.
