Installation Notes
- Place a suitable drain pan under the gear case.
- Remove the top (vent) and bottom (drain) screws from the lower unit.
- Allow the old gear lube to drain completely. Inspect the magnetic tip of the old screw for excessive metal shavings, which could indicate internal wear.
- Install one of the new magnetic drain screws with a new gasket into the bottom drain hole. Do not overtighten.
- Using a gear lube pump, fill the lower unit through the top vent hole until fluid begins to seep out.
- Install the second screw with a new gasket into the top vent hole and tighten it securely.
- Quickly remove the lube pump and reinstall the bottom drain screw and gasket.
- Tighten both screws to the manufacturer's specified torque. Clean any excess lube and check for leaks after a brief engine run.
