Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and shift linkage. Unbolt and remove the gearcase from the drive shaft housing.
- Locate the water pump housing on the gearcase. Remove the bolts securing the housing cover.
- Carefully note the rotational direction of the old impeller vanes before removal. Pry or pull the old impeller off the drive shaft.
- Clean any debris, corrosion, or old gasket material from the housing, wear plate, and cover.
- Lightly lubricate the new impeller and the inside of the pump housing with a marine-safe lubricant.
- Slide the new impeller onto the drive shaft, turning the shaft in its normal rotational direction to bend the vanes correctly.
- Align and install the new gasket and housing cover, then tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Reinstall the gearcase, ensuring the drive shaft, shifter shaft, and water tube are properly aligned. Secure all bolts and reconnect linkages.
