- Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to one full turn by hand. Do not overtighten.
- Refill the engine with the manufacturer-recommended type and amount of new oil.
- Start the engine and run it for a minute, checking carefully for any leaks around the filter.
- Turn off the engine, wait a few minutes, re-check the oil level, and top off if needed.

Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this filter fits my specific engine model?
The most reliable method is to check your current filter for a part number and compare it to the numbers in our Part Number Matrix. Additionally, review the Engine & Model Compatibility table to see if your engine's model and year are listed.
What is the recommended replacement interval?
As a general rule, replace the oil filter every time you change your engine oil. This is typically every 100 hours of operation or at least once per season, whichever comes first. Always follow the service interval recommended in your engine's owner manual.
What are signs of a clogged or failing oil filter?
Common symptoms include low oil pressure readings, a sputtering engine, or a noticeable drop in performance. The oil pressure warning light may also illuminate. If you notice any of these signs, check your oil level and replace the filter promptly.
Can I use this for a motorcycle and an outboard?
Yes, this filter is specified for both marine outboards (Suzuki, OMC, Johnson, Evinrude) and certain Suzuki motorcycles like the GSX-R125 and GSX-S125, as both applications use the same OEM part number 16510-05240.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
