Compatibility

This 13-inch propeller guard is designed for 40–65 HP outboard motors from various brands, including Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, BRP, and Suzuki. It is suitable for pontoon boats, deck boats, and other vessels operating at speeds not exceeding 25 mph. The guard fits propellers up to 10.5 inches in diameter, including applicable 40, 50, 60, and 65 HP outboard applications.

Important: This guard is not suitable for Big Foot or High Thrust models. Those applications require a 14-inch propeller guard. Confirm the propeller diameter and the clearance around the cavitation plate before installation.

Propeller Guard Installation Instructions

Tools Needed:

• Drill with a 5/16-inch bit
• The included installation hardware; 9 sets are used for the installation shown below: 6 sets for the upper section and 3 sets for the lower section

Installation Steps:

1. Position the guard on the underside of the cavitation plate. Check that equal clearance is maintained between the guard and the propeller throughout rotation.
2. Position the guard as far forward on the cavitation plate as possible while maintaining proper propeller clearance.
3. For 9-, 11-, 13-, and 14-inch guards, remove the trim tab under the cavitation plate before installation when required for clearance.
4. Drill six holes through the cavitation plate and guard on each side. Insert the bolts, washers, and Nyloc nuts, then tighten them loosely.
5. Drill one hole through the lower skeg as illustrated. Insert the bolt, washer, and Nyloc nut, then tighten securely.
6. After confirming alignment and propeller clearance, fully tighten the cavitation-plate bolts.

Installation and Maintenance Notes

• Verify the motor model, horsepower, propeller diameter, and guard clearance before drilling.
• After installation, rotate the propeller by hand with the engine off to confirm that it does not contact the guard.
• Inspect the guard, bolts, washers, and Nyloc nuts regularly for damage, looseness, or corrosion.
• Rinse the guard and hardware with fresh water after use in salt water.
