Product Details

This water pump repair kit is designed for selected Johnson, Evinrude, OMC and BRP 2-stroke outboards with a small gearcase and small water pump. The application uses a plastic wedge-key impeller configuration and is intended to help restore proper cooling-water circulation during routine water pump service.

The kit is listed for selected 2-cylinder and 3-cylinder loop-charged outboards rated from 35 HP through 60 HP. Always match the complete engine application, year, gearcase style and impeller-key configuration before ordering.

  • Replacement water pump service kit for selected Johnson/Evinrude outboards.
  • For small gearcase applications with a small water pump.
  • Designed for engines using a plastic wedge key at the impeller.
  • Aftermarket replacement; not manufactured by Johnson, Evinrude, OMC, BRP, Sierra, GLM, SEI Marine or Mallory.

Package Contents

This listing is for the water pump repair service-kit configuration associated with the applications above. Component selection and configuration can vary by the applicable water-pump design, so compare the product image and your existing parts before ordering. Do not assume that components from a different water-pump configuration are included or interchangeable.

Installation Notes

  1. Disconnect the battery and place the outboard in neutral before beginning service.
  2. Remove the lower unit according to the engine manufacturer's service procedure.
  3. Remove the existing water-pump components and clean the mating surfaces thoroughly.
  4. Inspect the driveshaft, water tube, keyway, wear surfaces and related sealing surfaces for damage or excessive wear.
  5. Install the replacement water-pump components in the correct order for your engine model. Confirm that the plastic wedge key is correctly seated before installing the impeller.
  6. Use an appropriate water-compatible lubricant or soap-and-water solution during assembly to prevent damage during the initial start.
  7. Tighten fasteners to the engine manufacturer's specified torque and reinstall the lower unit with the driveshaft and water tube properly aligned.
  8. Run the engine only with an adequate water supply and verify proper cooling-water discharge before returning the boat to service.

Professional installation is recommended if you are not familiar with outboard lower-unit or water-pump service.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if my water pump needs service?

Common warning signs include overheating, a weak or missing tell-tale stream, reduced cooling-water flow, or visible cracking, hardening, melting or deformation of the impeller during inspection.

What is the most important fitment detail?

Match the complete engine model and year with the small-gearcase, small-water-pump configuration and plastic wedge-key impeller design. Horsepower by itself does not confirm compatibility.

Does this fit every Johnson or Evinrude engine from 35 to 60 HP?

No. The listed horsepower ranges cover selected applications only. Different gearcases, water-pump sizes, impeller keys, serial ranges and model features may require a different service kit.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement service kit intended for the applications and cross-reference numbers listed on this page. Johnson, Evinrude, OMC, BRP and the aftermarket brands shown are referenced only for identification and compatibility purposes.

Should the impeller be installed dry?

No. Use a suitable water-compatible lubricant or soap-and-water solution during installation and never operate the engine without an adequate water supply. Follow the engine manufacturer's service instructions.

Safety & Important Information

  • Verify the engine model, year, serial-number range where applicable, gearcase style and plastic wedge-key configuration before ordering.
  • Do not use this listing to replace a large-gearcase, large-water-pump or different impeller-key configuration.
  • Compare the product image and existing pump components before installation.
  • Stop operation immediately if the engine overheats or the cooling-water discharge is weak or absent.
  • Professional installation is recommended for safe and reliable operation.
