Installation Notes

  1. Ensure the engine is off and disconnect the battery cables for safety.
  2. Remove the lower unit (gearcase) bolts and carefully lower it from the outboard's midsection.
  3. Unscrew the bolts holding the old water pump housing and remove the housing, impeller, gaskets, and key.
  4. Thoroughly clean the driveshaft, base plate, and all mating surfaces of any old gasket material or debris.
  5. Install the new gaskets, plate, and key. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft (rotating it in the direction of engine operation can help).
  6. Position the new housing over the assembly. Lightly grease the bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.
  7. Re-install the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly.
  8. Once secured, reconnect the battery and test the engine in a suitable water source, confirming a steady stream from the cooling system's tell-tale outlet.
