Professional installation is recommended if you are not experienced with lower-unit or water-pump service.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I verify fitment?
Match the complete engine model, 2-stroke configuration and any applicable serial-number range to the compatibility information. Also compare the original impeller's hub bore, outside diameter, width and blade count. If any detail differs, do not install the part without confirming compatibility.
What are the signs of a worn impeller?
Common signs include a weak or missing tell-tale stream, overheating, reduced cooling-water flow and cracked, brittle or missing vanes on the removed impeller.
How often should the impeller be replaced?
Inspect the impeller as part of regular maintenance and replace it when the vanes show cracking, hardening, deformation or wear. Replacement intervals depend on use, storage and water conditions, so follow the engine manufacturer's maintenance schedule.
Is this a complete water pump kit?
No. This listing contains one impeller only. A housing, wear plate, gasket, drive key or other water pump components are not included.
Is this an OEM part?
No. This is an aftermarket replacement impeller. Yamaha, Mercury, Mariner, Sierra, GLM and Mallory names and reference numbers are used only to identify compatible applications or cross-reference numbers.
Can I use the part based only on the horsepower rating?
No. The same horsepower rating can cover different impellers. Confirm the engine model, stroke, serial-number conditions where applicable and the original part dimensions before ordering.
Safety & Important Information
- Verify the complete engine model and original impeller dimensions before purchase.
- Do not operate an outboard with inadequate cooling-water flow.
- This is an aftermarket replacement component, not an OEM component.
- Use the manufacturer's service manual for torque values, assembly procedures and model-specific safety requirements.
