Product Details

This outboard transom saver support is designed to help support an outboard motor and reduce movement during trailering. It installs over a compatible trim-and-tilt ram and helps limit downward movement and road-shock transfer to the transom and steering components.

The support is intended for selected outboard motors with one- or two-pipe trim-and-tilt arrangements, including certain Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda, Evinrude and Tohatsu applications. Compatibility depends on the exact engine model, ram arrangement, and available clearance. Review the application notes below and compare the support with your engine before installation.

  • Slips over a compatible exposed trim-ram piston.
  • EPDM rubber body with a rigid ABS/PC hybrid liner.
  • Includes two steer-stop stabilizer clips to help limit engine movement during transport.

Reference Part Numbers

The following numbers are provided as aftermarket or product-reference identifiers. They should be used together with the fitment information and a visual comparison; a reference number alone does not confirm compatibility.

Engine and Model Compatibility

The ranges below are application guidance rather than a substitute for checking the exact engine configuration. Keep the model, horsepower, stroke, ram arrangement and clearance conditions together when confirming fitment.

Suzuki: On DF/SS 140–200 hp applications, the support is intended for the starboard/right-side ram only.

Honda: On BF 75–225 hp applications, the support is intended for the starboard/right-side ram. Port/left-side installation may require modification.

Evinrude: Some E-TEC applications may require the entry hole to be enlarged slightly to clear the trim/tilt piston tip.

Installation Notes

  1. Tilt the outboard motor to the raised position.
  2. With the motor raised, place the support over the exposed, compatible trim-ram piston or pistons. Make sure it is fully seated.
  3. On single-ram applications, install the support on the designated ram. Certain applications require the starboard/right-side ram.
  4. Lower the motor slowly until the support is held firmly between the motor and the trim/tilt unit. Do not force the motor or apply excessive pressure.
  5. Install the included steer-stop clips on the hydraulic steering-cylinder rods as applicable. Confirm that all components are secure before towing.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

What is this transom saver used for?

It supports the outboard during trailering, helps reduce engine movement and bouncing, and can help limit stress on the transom and trim/tilt components caused by road impacts.

How do I confirm whether it fits my engine?

Compare the exact engine model, horsepower, stroke, trim-ram arrangement, side of installation and available clearance with the compatibility table. Also compare the shape and dimensions of the support with the engine before use. The table is application guidance and does not replace a physical fit check.

Does installation require modification?

Many listed applications are intended to install without modification, but certain Yamaha applications may require minor trimming of the base, some Honda applications may require port-side modification, and some Evinrude E-TEC applications may require a slightly enlarged entry hole. Do not modify the support unless the resulting fit is secure and safe.

What are the steer-stop clips for?

The clips are installed on compatible hydraulic steering-cylinder rods to help limit steering movement and side-to-side engine sway during trailering.

How should the support be maintained?

Inspect the rubber and liner regularly for cracking, deformation, excessive wear or other damage. Rinse with fresh water after exposure to salt water and allow the part to dry. Replace the support if its structural condition or fit is uncertain.

Is this an OEM component?

This is an aftermarket replacement product. The reference numbers above are included for cross-reference only and do not indicate that this support is manufactured by the listed engine or accessory brands.

What should I do if my engine is not listed?

Do not assume compatibility from horsepower alone. Confirm the trim-ram layout, piston and opening dimensions, installation side, clearance and support seating before purchase or installation.

Safety and Important Information

  • Verify the exact engine configuration and compare the product dimensions and shape before purchase.
  • Do not use the support on Mercury Verado V6/V8 or Racing applications identified as not compatible.
  • Make sure the support is fully seated and the motor is lowered gently against it before trailering.
  • Inspect the support before every use. Do not use it if cracked, damaged, loose or improperly fitted.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement, not an OEM component. Professional installation is recommended where fitment or installation is uncertain.
