- Remove the lower unit or gearcase according to the applicable service procedure.
- Locate the water-pump assembly on top of the gearcase and remove the fasteners securing the pump housing.
- Remove the housing and old impeller. Note the vane orientation, then clean debris from the housing and wear-plate area.
- Lightly lubricate the new impeller with a suitable lubricant and install it in the housing while turning the driveshaft clockwise to seat the vanes.
- Install the supplied gaskets and O-rings in their correct locations.
- Reinstall the water-pump housing and tighten the fasteners to the engine manufacturer's specification.
- Reinstall the lower unit and test the engine with an appropriate water supply. Confirm water flow from the tell-tale outlet before normal operation.
Follow the service manual for your exact engine when removing the lower unit, selecting lubricants and applying torque values. If the engine model or serial number is outside the ranges shown above, do not assume compatibility.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm that this kit fits my engine?
Match the engine brand, model, horsepower, 2-stroke configuration and complete serial number with the compatibility information above. A matching part number alone is not sufficient when serial-number breaks apply.
What are the signs of a failing water-pump impeller?
Common signs include weak or absent water flow from the tell-tale outlet, overheating warnings, elevated operating temperature and reduced cooling performance. An impeller may become brittle, lose vanes or slip on its hub as it wears.
How often should the impeller be inspected or replaced?
Inspect and replace the impeller according to the maintenance schedule for your exact engine. Service may be needed more frequently when operating in sandy, silty or saltwater conditions.
What is the difference between the Q1, T1 and T2 references?
These are different Mercury reference numbers associated with the listed application. Verify the engine model and serial number rather than relying only on the suffix when selecting a replacement.
Is this an OEM component?
This listing is for an aftermarket replacement kit, not a Mercury-branded OEM package. Mercury, Mariner and the listed part numbers are used to identify the intended application and reference parts.
What are the shipping and return terms?
Shipping options, delivery estimates and return eligibility are determined by the store and are shown during checkout or in the applicable store policy.
