Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this fuel pump fits my Mercury or Mariner engine?

Compare the engine brand, model, horsepower, 4-stroke configuration and serial number with the compatibility tables. The listed Mercury and Mariner applications use different serial-number conditions, so do not rely on horsepower alone.

Is this a high-pressure or low-pressure pump?

This is an electric low-pressure fuel lift pump. It is intended to transfer fuel within the VST fuel system and is not a replacement for the separate high-pressure fuel pump.

What are common signs of a failing low-pressure fuel pump?

Possible symptoms include hard starting, stalling at idle or low speed, hesitation under acceleration, or abnormal pump noise near the VST. These symptoms can also have other causes, so test the fuel and electrical systems before replacing parts.

Can this assembly be used on a Yamaha engine?

The listed Yamaha references and models are aftermarket cross-references. Confirm that your original pump carries one of the listed Yamaha part numbers and verify fitment in the appropriate service documentation before installation.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement fuel pump assembly designed to replace the listed reference numbers. It is not manufactured or branded by Mercury, Mariner or Yamaha.

How should the part be installed?

Fuel-system work should be performed with the battery disconnected and fuel pressure safely relieved. Follow the engine service manual for VST removal, assembly, torque specifications, priming and leak checks. Professional installation is recommended.

Safety & Important Information

  • Confirm the original pump, reference numbers, engine model, year, stroke and serial number before purchase.
  • Do not install the part if its connections, dimensions or component layout differ from the original assembly.
  • Relieve fuel pressure and work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks, flames and other ignition sources.
  • Inspect the system for fuel leaks after installation and before operating the engine.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement component, not an original equipment manufacturer part.
