Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and remove the spark-plug leads before beginning service.
- Place a drain pan under the lower unit and drain the gearcase lubricant according to the engine manufacturer’s procedure.
- Remove the lower unit while supporting it securely. Keep the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube aligned during removal.
- Remove the water-pump housing and note the order and orientation of the impeller, key, plate, gaskets, seals, and washers.
- Clean the mating surfaces and inspect the driveshaft, keyway, pump plate, housing, and water-tube grommet for wear or damage.
- Install the replacement plate, gasket, seal, key, and impeller in the same order as the original components. Use the correct impeller rotation for the engine.

- Reinstall the lower unit, confirming proper engagement of the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube.
