Maintenance & Troubleshooting FAQ

How do I confirm this kit fits my engine?

Check the complete model designation, horsepower, stroke type, and model year against the compatibility information above. If any of these details differ, compare the existing water-pump part and service-manual reference before ordering.

Does this kit include the water pump housing?

No. This is a water pump repair/service kit supplied without the housing. The existing housing must be inspected and reused only when it is in suitable condition.

Can I use this kit on any Yamaha 9.9 or 15 HP outboard?

No. The listing covers selected Yamaha applications only. The model family, year, horsepower, and stroke must match the stated application range.

What are common signs of a worn water-pump service assembly?

Possible signs include a weak or intermittent tell-tale stream, overheating, an overheating alarm, steam, or reduced cooling performance. Stop the engine if overheating is suspected and inspect the cooling system before further operation.

Should the housing be replaced too?

Inspect the housing for scoring, distortion, corrosion, excessive wear, or damage. Replace it separately if it is not serviceable; this listing does not include a replacement housing.

Is this an OEM Yamaha part?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement kit. Yamaha part numbers are shown only as application and replacement references.

Safety & Important Information

  • Inspect the existing housing and related water-pump parts before installing the kit.
  • Use the manufacturer’s service manual for disassembly, torque values, sealing instructions, and reassembly procedure.
  • Professional installation is recommended when the correct procedure or fitment is uncertain.
