Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and place the outboard in neutral.
- Remove the lower unit according to the service procedure for the specific engine.
- Remove the water-pump housing from the top of the gearcase.
- Take out the old impeller, gaskets, seals and plate, noting their order and orientation.
- Clean all mating surfaces and remove old gasket material without damaging the sealing surfaces.
- Install the replacement plate, gaskets, seals and impeller in the correct order.
- Ensure the impeller key is fully seated. Rotate the driveshaft in the correct direction while fitting the housing so the impeller vanes are not folded incorrectly.
- Apply only the lubricant or sealant specified by the engine manufacturer and tighten fasteners to the applicable service-manual specifications.
- Reinstall the lower unit and test the cooling-water flow in a safe water supply. Confirm a steady tell-tale stream and monitor for overheating.
