Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and make sure the engine is switched off and cool.
2. Remove the lower unit and place it securely in a suitable stand.
3. Remove the water-pump housing fasteners and lift off the housing to expose the old components.
4. Clean all mating surfaces completely. Remove old gasket material, sealant, and debris without damaging the surfaces.
5. Install the new gasket, face plate, impeller, and key. Orient the impeller vanes in the correct rotational direction, normally by turning the driveshaft clockwise while lowering the housing.
6. Reinstall the water-pump housing and tighten the fasteners to the torque specified in the service manual.
7. Reinstall the lower unit on the engine.
8. Reconnect the battery and run the engine only in the water or with an appropriate flushing device. Check for a steady tell-tale stream and monitor engine temperature.
