Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and make sure the engine is switched off and cool.
- Drain the lower-unit gear lubricant.
- Remove the propeller and lower-unit fasteners, then carefully detach the lower unit.
- Unbolt and remove the existing water-pump housing assembly.
- Clean the mounting surfaces and remove old gasket material or sealant.
- Install the new base gasket, plate, impeller, housing, gaskets, O-rings, and other components in the correct order for the application.
- Apply an appropriate light coating of marine lubricant to the inside of the housing if specified by the service instructions, then install the impeller while turning the driveshaft clockwise to seat the vanes.
- Check that the housing, O-rings, and seals are correctly aligned and seated.
- Reattach the lower unit, reconnect the shift linkage, and refill the gear lubricant.
- Run the engine only with an adequate water supply, such as suitable flushing muffs, and check water flow, cooling performance, and leaks.
