Installation Notes

  1. Ensure the engine is cool and place a drain pan beneath the existing oil filter.
  2. Using an appropriate filter wrench, unscrew and remove the old filter. Be prepared for some residual oil spillage.
  3. Wipe the engine's filter mounting surface clean with a lint-free rag. Ensure the old gasket is not stuck to the engine.
  4. Lightly lubricate the gasket of the new filter with a thin film of clean engine oil.
  5. Carefully thread the new filter onto the mounting stud by hand. Spin it until the gasket makes firm contact with the engine surface.
  6. Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to one full turn by hand. Do not use a wrench or overtighten, as this can damage the gasket or threads.
  7. Refill the engine with the manufacturer-specified oil to the correct level.
  8. Start the engine and let it run for a minute while checking for any leaks around the new filter. If leaks are present, stop the engine and re-check the tightness.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this oil filter fits my engine?

Check the "Engine & Model Compatibility" and "Part Number Matrix" sections. It is crucial to match your engine's model, year, and serial number. If your current part number appears in our interchange list, it is compatible. When in doubt, compare the thread size (20mm x 1.5) and physical dimensions to your old part.

What is the difference between part numbers like 35-822626Q2 and 8M0162830?

These are often superseded or updated part numbers from the original manufacturer for the same filter design. This aftermarket product is engineered to replace all listed equivalents, offering the same fit and function.

Can I use this on a Yamaha engine?

This filter is listed as a direct cross-reference to Yamaha part number 5GH-13440-00-00. While we do not have a detailed list of specific Yamaha models, if your current filter corresponds to this Yamaha part number, our filter will fit.

How often should I replace my outboard motor's oil filter?

Always follow your engine manufacturer’s recommended service interval. A general guideline is to replace the oil filter every 100 hours of use or at least once annually, whichever comes first, typically as part of a seasonal oil change.

What are the signs of a clogged or failing oil filter?

Common symptoms include a noticeable drop in engine performance, sputtering, activation of the low oil pressure warning light or alarm, or visible oil leaks from the filter housing itself.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.

Shipping speed & cost?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options appear at checkout where available.

Warranty & returns?

Covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If issues arise, contact support with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window (unused & in original condition). See our policy page or reach out for instructions.
