Troubleshooting & FAQ
How can I tell if my water pump is failing?
Common signs include a weak or inconsistent stream of water from the tell-tale outlet, engine overheating alarms, or visible damage to the old impeller (cracked or missing vanes) upon inspection.
How often should I replace my outboard's impeller?
For preventative maintenance, it is recommended to replace the water pump impeller every 1 to 2 years or every 100-200 hours of operation, depending on usage conditions (e.g., more frequently in saltwater or sandy/silty water).
Will this kit definitely fit my engine's model year?
This kit is designed for the specified HP and stroke engines. However, always verify the OEM part number (692-W0078-02-00) against your engine's service manual or existing part to ensure an exact match, as variations can exist within model years.
Is it necessary to replace all the components in the kit?
Yes, it is highly recommended to replace all included gaskets, seals, and hardware. Reusing old components can lead to leaks and premature failure of the new impeller, compromising the repair.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
