Product Details
This blue whale-tail hydrofoil stabilizer is designed for small outboard motors rated from 8 to 40 HP. Mounted to the anti-cavitation plate, it can help improve low-speed handling, reduce bow rise, and help the boat reach planing speed more efficiently.
The stabilizer is intended for many Yamaha, Mercury, Johnson, Evinrude, Honda, Suzuki, and Tohatsu outboards. Compatibility depends on the exact engine configuration and anti-cavitation-plate shape, so confirm the dimensions and the application notes before installation.
- Whale-tail design for added stern lift and improved control.
- Mounts directly to the outboard anti-cavitation plate.
- Drilling is required for installation; mounting hardware and a drill bit are included.
- Constructed from durable marine-grade nylon plastic.

Engine Compatibility
This hydrofoil is intended for many 8–40 HP outboard applications. Confirm the exact engine model, year, mounting area, and anti-cavitation-plate dimensions before drilling.
Mercury note: Do not use this product with Mercury 40, 50, or 60 four-stroke models unless fitment has been independently confirmed for the specific engine.

Installation Notes
- Center the hydrofoil on the outboard’s anti-cavitation plate and check that the selected position will not interfere with steering or propulsion components.
- Use the hydrofoil as a template to mark the four mounting-hole locations.
- Remove the hydrofoil and carefully drill the four holes with the included 6.5 mm drill bit.
- Position the hydrofoil on the plate and align the holes.
- Insert the stainless-steel screws from the top and secure them with the nuts underneath. Tighten evenly without overtightening or deforming the plate.
- Before operation, confirm that all hardware is secure and that the hydrofoil does not contact the propeller, rudder, trim mechanism, or other moving parts.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Will this fit my specific boat model?
Fitment is determined primarily by the outboard motor and the shape and dimensions of its anti-cavitation plate, not by the boat model alone. Check the engine brand, horsepower, stroke type, exact model, and available mounting area before installation.
How can a hydrofoil improve performance?
The whale-tail profile adds lift at the stern and may help reduce bow rise, improve low-speed control, and bring a boat onto plane more quickly. Results vary with the boat, load, propeller, engine setup, and operating conditions.
Is drilling into the anti-cavitation plate required?
Yes. This design uses drilled mounting holes and the supplied screws and nuts. Installation should be completed carefully, with the hydrofoil centered and clear of the propeller and other moving parts.
Can this stabilizer affect top speed?
Any hydrofoil can increase drag and may slightly affect top speed or handling on some boats. Check the installation, alignment, and engine trim if performance changes unexpectedly.
What maintenance is required?
Periodically check the mounting screws and nuts for tightness and inspect the hydrofoil for cracks, deformation, or impact damage. Recheck the hardware after the first operating session and after use in rough conditions.
Is this an OEM part?
No. This is an aftermarket hydrofoil stabilizer. Brand and reference names shown above are provided only for comparison and application research.
What should I do if the dimensions do not match?
Do not drill or install the hydrofoil if the mounting area, hole pattern, clearance, or product dimensions do not match your engine. Choose a product designed for the specific application instead.
Safety & Important Information
- Confirm the engine application and physical dimensions before purchase and installation.
- Do not install the hydrofoil where it can contact the propeller, steering system, trim mechanism, or other moving components.
- Use appropriate eye protection and safe drilling practices during installation.
- Professional installation is recommended if you are not experienced with drilling and outboard hardware.
- Inspect the mounting hardware and hydrofoil before each period of regular use.
