Product Details

This aftermarket Hydrofoil Stabilizer is designed for use with compatible outboard and stern drive motors in the 5–150 HP range. By adding lift and surface area near the anti-cavitation plate, a properly installed hydrofoil may help a boat get on plane more quickly, improve stability, reduce porpoising, and support efficient operation.

The product is listed as a replacement for the aftermarket reference FO2001. Before ordering, compare the stabilizer dimensions and mounting requirements with your engine and anti-cavitation plate.

  • Installation Method: Transom mount on the anti-cavitation plate; drilling required
  • Housing Material: UV-resistant reinforced nylon PA66 plastic
  • Included Hardware: Stainless steel mounting screws and nuts, plus a drill bit

Part Number Reference

FO2001 is the replacement reference associated with this hydrofoil stabilizer. Part-number references are provided for identification only; confirm dimensions, mounting-hole locations, and engine compatibility before installation.

Engine & Model Compatibility

This stabilizer is intended for compatible outboard and stern drive applications from 5 to 150 HP. The range alone does not confirm fitment for every model. Check the size and shape of your anti-cavitation plate, available clearance, and the manufacturer's installation requirements before ordering.

Installation Notes

  1. Disconnect the engine battery and follow applicable safety procedures before beginning work.
  2. Center the hydrofoil on top of the anti-cavitation plate of the compatible outboard or stern drive. Check the available clearance and position it according to the supplied instructions.
  3. Hold the hydrofoil firmly in place and mark the drilling locations through the mounting holes.
  4. Remove the hydrofoil and carefully drill the marked holes using the included 6.5 mm drill bit.
  5. Place the hydrofoil back onto the plate and align the holes. Insert the stainless steel screws and secure them with the supplied nuts.
  6. Tighten the fasteners evenly without over-tightening. Confirm that the hydrofoil is secure and does not interfere with the propeller, steering, trim, or other moving components.
  7. After installation, inspect the fasteners and mounting area before launching and recheck them after the first operating session.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

What are the main benefits of installing a hydrofoil?

A hydrofoil can help a compatible boat get on plane faster, particularly under heavier loads. It may also improve stability, reduce porpoising, and allow the boat to remain on plane at a lower engine speed. Results vary with hull design, engine setup, load, and installation.

Will this fit my specific engine model?

The stated application is compatible outboard and stern drive motors from 5 to 150 HP, but horsepower alone does not confirm fitment. Measure the anti-cavitation plate and compare its shape, mounting area, clearances, and drilling requirements with the stabilizer dimensions before ordering.

Is drilling into the engine's anti-cavitation plate required?

Yes. This installation method requires drilling four mounting holes in the anti-cavitation plate. The listed package includes stainless steel mounting hardware and a 6.5 mm drill bit.

What are signs that an old hydrofoil should be replaced?

Inspect the existing hydrofoil for cracks, warping, deformation, loose fasteners, or damage around the mounting holes. Replace it if its structure or mounting points are compromised.

Can a hydrofoil affect boat handling?

Any hydrofoil can affect handling, trim, steering response, and performance. Use it only within the stated application range, install it securely on a compatible plate, and stop using it if unusual vibration, interference, or handling changes occur.

Is this an OEM component?

No. This listing is for an aftermarket replacement hydrofoil stabilizer and is associated with the FO2001 replacement reference. It is not represented as an original equipment component.

How should I confirm the replacement reference?

Use FO2001 as an identification reference, then verify the stabilizer's dimensions, mounting-hole pattern, anti-cavitation-plate clearance, and application requirements. A matching reference number by itself does not guarantee fitment.

Safety & Important Information

  • Verify the dimensions, mounting location, clearances, and application requirements before purchase.
  • Do not exceed the stated 150 HP maximum application range.
  • Installation requires drilling the anti-cavitation plate. Use appropriate eye protection and follow safe drilling practices.
  • Confirm that the installed hydrofoil cannot contact the propeller, steering components, trim system, or other moving parts.
  • Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with marine engine mounting work.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement, not an OEM component.
