  5. Remove the old filter element and O-rings, taking note of their position and orientation.
  6. Thoroughly clean the inside of the filter housing with a clean, lint-free cloth.
  7. Lightly lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil and install them in their grooves.
  8. Insert the new filter element into the housing, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  9. Screw the filter cup back onto the bracket and tighten it to the manufacturer-specified torque. Do not overtighten.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this filter fits my engine?

This filter is designed for specific Yamaha, Mercury, and Suzuki horsepower ranges and years. Please use the "Engine & Model Compatibility" tables on this page to verify your exact engine model and year. Cross-check the OEM part number with our "Part Number Matrix" for final confirmation.

Does this filter include the necessary O-rings?

Yes, this kit includes the fuel filter element and two O-ring seals required for a complete, leak-free installation.

What is the recommended replacement interval?

For optimal engine performance and protection, we recommend replacing your primary on-engine fuel filter every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Always refer to your engine's service manual for manufacturer-specific recommendations.

What are the signs of a clogged or failing fuel filter?

Common symptoms include engine hesitation, loss of power, difficulty starting, stalling at low speeds, or rough idling. If you experience these issues, a restricted fuel filter is a common and important component to check.

Can I use this with E10 ethanol-blended gasoline?

Absolutely. This filter is constructed with materials designed for modern gasoline, including ethanol blends up to E10.

Is this a water-separating fuel filter?

This is a primary on-engine filter element with water separator capability. It is designed to work within the OEM filter housing, which often includes a water-separating bowl. It should not be used as a substitute for a dedicated external water-separating fuel filter system if your vessel requires one.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
