Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
- Drain the gearcase oil from the lower unit.
- Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase from the driveshaft housing. Disconnect the shift linkage.
- Remove the water pump housing bolts and lift the housing.
- Remove the old impeller, gasket, wear plate, and impeller key. Note their orientation.
- Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or debris.
- Install the new wear plate, gasket, and impeller key.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, rotating it in the direction of engine operation to correctly seat the vanes.
- Reinstall the water pump housing and tighten bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
- Reassemble the lower unit, reconnecting the shift linkage, and refill the gearcase with fresh oil.
- Start the engine at idle and confirm water is flowing strongly from the tell-tale port.
