  3. Note or photograph the linkage and hose connections before removing them.
  4. Unbolt and remove the old carburetor from the intake manifold. Remove the old gasket and clean the mounting surface thoroughly.
  5. Install the new gasket and mount the new carburetor, tightening the bolts to the manufacturer's recommended torque.
  6. Reconnect all linkages, springs, and hoses to their original positions.
  7. Reconnect the fuel line and turn the fuel supply on. Check for any leaks.
  8. Reconnect the battery. Start the engine and check for smooth idling and operation. Adjust idle speed if necessary.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if my carburetor needs replacing?

Common signs of a faulty carburetor include difficulty starting, rough idling, stalling, poor acceleration, black smoke from the exhaust (running rich), or fuel leaks. If cleaning and tuning do not solve these issues, a replacement is often the best solution.

Is any adjustment needed after installation?

This carburetor is designed as a direct-fit replacement and should perform well out of the box. However, minor adjustments to the idle speed or air/fuel mixture may be necessary depending on your specific engine's condition and local altitude.

What is the difference between this and the original Tohatsu/Mercury part?

Functionally, there is no difference. This is an aftermarket part built to the same specifications and performance standards as the original equipment. It offers a cost-effective solution without compromising on fit or function.

What maintenance is recommended for a new carburetor?

To extend the life of your new carburetor, always use fresh, clean fuel and a quality fuel filter. If the engine will be stored for an extended period, it's best to run the carburetor dry or use a fuel stabilizer to prevent gum and varnish buildup.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
