Installation Notes

  1. Shut off the fuel supply and disconnect the battery for safety.
  2. Carefully detach the fuel line, throttle cable, and any other control linkages from the old carburetor.
  3. Remove the mounting bolts or nuts securing the carburetor to the engine intake manifold.
  4. Gently remove the old carburetor and gasket. Clean the manifold mounting surface thoroughly, ensuring no old gasket material remains.
  5. Position the new gasket and carburetor onto the manifold studs or bolt holes.
  6. Thread the mounting bolts or nuts by hand, then tighten them evenly in a crisscross pattern to the manufacturer's recommended torque.
  7. Reconnect the fuel line and all control linkages. Ensure the throttle moves freely without binding.
  8. Turn the fuel supply back on and prime the system if necessary. Check carefully for any fuel leaks.
  9. Start the engine and allow it to warm up, then adjust the idle speed screw as needed per your engine’s service manual.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this will fit my outboard?

The surest way is to check the part number stamped on your existing carburetor. If it matches any of the numbers in our Part Number Matrix, it's a direct replacement. You should also verify your engine's model, HP, and year against our Engine & Model Compatibility table.

Will I need to adjust or tune this carburetor after installation?

Our carburetors are preset to factory specifications, but minor idle speed or air/fuel mixture adjustments may be necessary to match your specific engine's requirements and local atmospheric conditions. Always refer to your engine's service manual for the correct tuning procedure.

What are the signs of a failing carburetor?

Common symptoms include difficulty starting, poor or rough idling, stalling at low speeds, hesitation or bogging on acceleration, increased fuel consumption, or visible fuel leaks from the carburetor body.

Can I use ethanol-blended fuel (E10) with this carburetor?

Yes, this carburetor is compatible with modern gasoline, including E10. However, ethanol can attract moisture and degrade rubber components over time. For best results and engine longevity, use ethanol-free fuel when possible and do not let treated fuel sit in the carburetor for extended periods.

What is the recommended maintenance for this carburetor?

Maintenance intervals depend on usage, fuel quality, and storage. We recommend cleaning the fuel bowl annually to remove any sediment or water. If performance issues arise, a full cleaning or rebuild may be necessary.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
