Installation Notes
- Before starting, disconnect the engine's battery and ensure all components are cool to the touch.
- Remove the gearcase (lower unit) from the outboard's driveshaft housing. Consult your owner's manual for specific instructions.
- Unbolt and carefully lift the water pump housing to access the old impeller. Note the rotational direction of the old impeller vanes.
- Remove the old impeller, key, wear plate, and gaskets. Thoroughly clean all surfaces of debris and old gasket material.
- Install the new wear plate and gaskets from the kit.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, aligning the keyway, and install the new key. Rotate the driveshaft in its normal operating direction while lowering the housing to correctly seat the impeller blades.
- Securely fasten the water pump housing with the original bolts.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly aligned.
- Reconnect the battery. Start the engine in water and verify that a steady stream of water is exiting the cooling system's tell-tale port.
