Troubleshooting and FAQ
How do I confirm fitment?
Compare the original filter element and part number with the references in the matrix, then confirm the complete engine model, year and—where applicable—serial-number range. Do not rely on horsepower alone.
What are common symptoms of a restricted VST filter?
Possible symptoms include difficult starting, hesitation, loss of power at higher speed, rough running or stalling. These symptoms can also be caused by other fuel, ignition or control-system problems.
Is this a complete fuel filter assembly?
No. This listing is for one internal fuel filter element. It does not include the VST housing, fuel pump, gaskets, O-rings or external hoses.
Are gaskets or O-rings included?
No gaskets or O-rings are included with the filter element. Inspect the existing seals and replace them if they are damaged or no longer serviceable.
Can this element be used in a 2-stroke application?
Do not assume compatibility with a 2-stroke engine based on a similar model name. The Yamaha applications listed here are the verified 4-stroke F-series applications; confirm the exact original part number for any other engine.
Is this an OEM part?
No. This is an aftermarket replacement element intended to replace the listed OEM and aftermarket reference numbers. Yamaha and Mercury names and part numbers are used only for identification and compatibility reference.
How often should the filter be replaced?
Replacement intervals depend on the engine manufacturer's maintenance schedule, fuel quality and operating conditions. Inspect or replace it according to the applicable service manual and whenever contamination or restricted fuel flow is suspected.
Safety and Important Information
- Work in a well-ventilated area away from flames, sparks and ignition sources.
- Relieve fuel pressure before opening the VST and properly contain spilled gasoline.
- Verify the original part number, engine model, year and configuration before ordering.
- Do not operate the engine if fuel lines, seals or connections show signs of leakage.
- This is an aftermarket replacement part, not an original-equipment component.
