Product Details

This high-quality trim tab zinc anode is designed to help protect the lower unit of compatible Yamaha outboard motors from galvanic corrosion. It also functions as an adjustable trim tab to help counteract propeller torque and improve steering response.

This aftermarket replacement is listed for Yamaha outboards using OEM references 688-45371-02-00, 6E5-45371-01-00 or 67F-45371-00-00. Fitment can vary by model, year, shaft configuration and serial number, so verify the part number in your engine parts manual before ordering.

  • Bolt-on replacement design for straightforward installation.
  • Manufactured from zinc alloy for sacrificial corrosion protection in marine environments.
  • Combines anode protection with trim-tab functionality to help counteract propeller-induced torque steer.
  • Designed for use on compatible Yamaha outboard gearcases; it is not a universal fit for every Yamaha model.

What's in the Box

  • 1 x Trim tab zinc anode

Mounting hardware is not included unless specifically stated in the order details.

Installation Notes

  1. Tilt the outboard to a safe working position and engage the tilt lock. Disconnect the engine battery before beginning work.
  2. Locate the existing trim tab anode on the underside of the anti-cavitation plate or gearcase area.
  3. Remove the mounting bolt and take off the old anode.
  4. Clean corrosion, residue and paint from the mounting surface so the replacement anode makes good electrical contact with the gearcase.
  5. Position the replacement anode and install the mounting bolt. Hand-tighten first to ensure correct seating.
  6. Tighten the bolt to the engine manufacturer's specification. Do not overtighten.
  7. Reconnect the battery and check that the anode is secure before operating the boat.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

How do I confirm fitment for my engine?

Compare the OEM number stamped or listed for your existing anode with the references in the Part Number Matrix. Then confirm the full engine model code, year and serial-number range in the engine parts manual. Horsepower alone is not sufficient to establish fitment.

When should a zinc anode be replaced?

Replace the anode when it is substantially eroded, deeply pitted, crumbling or has lost approximately half of its original material. A light white or chalky surface can be normal for a working zinc anode.

How often should I inspect the anode?

Inspect it regularly, especially on boats used in saltwater or kept in the water. Checking every 50–100 operating hours or at least once each season is a practical maintenance interval, but local water conditions may require more frequent inspection.

Does the anode include the mounting bolt?

No. The mounting bolt is not included. Reuse the original hardware only if it is undamaged, corrosion-free and suitable for the exact engine application.

Will this fit a 115HP Yamaha engine?

Some 115HP Yamaha applications are listed with the 688-45371-02 or 6E5-45371-01 reference, but not every 115HP model necessarily uses the same anode. Confirm the OEM part number for the specific model and serial number before ordering.

Why is the trim tab adjustable?

The trim tab can help counteract propeller-induced torque steer. Adjustments should be made carefully and according to the engine manufacturer's guidance. The anode's primary purpose remains sacrificial corrosion protection.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This listing is for an aftermarket replacement. Yamaha part numbers are provided only as identification and compatibility references.

What are the shipping and return terms?

Shipping availability, delivery estimates, warranty coverage and return eligibility are determined by the applicable checkout and store policies. Review those terms before placing an order.

Safety and Important Information

  • Verify the OEM part number, engine model, year and serial-number range before ordering.
  • Do not rely on horsepower alone to determine compatibility.
  • Make sure the anode has clean metal-to-metal contact with the gearcase; paint, sealant or corrosion between the surfaces can reduce protection.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement part, not an original equipment manufacturer component.
  • Professional installation is recommended when the correct torque specification or fitment cannot be confirmed.
