Troubleshooting & FAQ
Does this kit include the water-pump housing?
No. This is the repair-kit configuration without housing. Reuse the existing housing only if it passes inspection and is free from scoring, distortion and excessive corrosion.
Which Yamaha part numbers are associated with this kit?
Catalog records associate this repair-kit family with 6CE-W0078-00-00, 6CE-W0078-01-00 and 6CE-W0078-02-00. The correct reference depends on the engine model and production year.
Is this the same as Sierra 18-3471?
No. The reviewed Sierra catalog identifies 18-3471 as a water-pump repair-kit configuration with housing, while 18-3470 is identified as the configuration without housing. Package contents and application should be checked before substituting between them.
Will this fit every Yamaha F225, F250 or F300?
No. These horsepower families include multiple model variants and production years. Confirm the exact model designation, year, serial-number range and OEM reference before ordering.
What are common signs of a failing water-pump impeller?
A weak or missing tell-tale stream, an overheating alarm, steam from the exhaust or a damaged, brittle or deformed impeller can indicate a cooling-system problem. Stop operation if the engine overheats and inspect the cooling system.
How often should the impeller be replaced?
Replacement intervals depend on the engine manufacturer's schedule and operating conditions. Saltwater, sand, silt and extended storage can increase wear. Follow the service schedule for your exact engine and inspect the pump whenever the lower unit is serviced.
Is this a genuine Yamaha OEM part?
No. This listing is for an aftermarket replacement repair kit. Yamaha reference numbers are provided only to identify the application and cross-reference the component.
