Troubleshooting & FAQ

How can I confirm that this kit fits my engine?

Compare the engine brand, model, horsepower, stroke, year, and any applicable serial-range information with the compatibility table. Also compare the original impeller and pump components with the listed dimensions and reference numbers. If any of these details differ, confirm fitment before ordering.

What are common signs of a failing water pump impeller?

Possible signs include a weak or missing tell-tale stream, an overheating warning, elevated operating temperature, or reduced cooling performance. A removed impeller may show cracked, brittle, deformed, or missing fins.

How often should the impeller be replaced?

Impeller service intervals depend on engine use, storage, water conditions, and the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule. Inspect and replace the impeller at the interval specified for your engine, and replace it sooner if it shows wear or the engine has been operated with restricted water flow.

Does this kit include the complete water pump housing?

No. This is an impeller repair kit containing the components listed in the box contents. The main outer water pump housing is not included.

Is this an OEM part?

This listing is for an aftermarket replacement kit. The Yamaha, Sierra, and Mallory numbers shown are reference numbers for application and cross-reference purposes; verify the complete engine application before installation.

What should I do if the supplied parts do not match my original components?

Do not force installation or operate the engine with mismatched pump parts. Stop and compare the engine information, original component dimensions, and reference numbers, then contact the seller before installation.

Safety & Important Information

  • Verify the engine model, year, stroke, application, dimensions, and reference numbers before purchase.
  • Inspect the water pump housing and related components during installation; worn parts may require separate replacement.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s service manual for lower-unit removal, fastener torque, lubricant, and testing procedures.
  • Use an adequate water supply when testing the outboard and stop the engine immediately if water circulation is not established.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement kit, not an OEM component.
  • Professional installation is recommended when the required service procedure is unfamiliar.
