Troubleshooting and FAQ

How do I know if the impeller needs replacement?

Common symptoms include engine overheating at idle or low speed, reduced cooling-water flow from the exhaust outlet, cracked blades and missing blade sections. Inspect the impeller regularly and replace it at the interval recommended for your engine and pump.

Which spline count is correct?

Application information for this replacement lists both 7-spline and 12-spline drive configurations. Confirm the drive on the existing impeller and pump shaft before ordering; the engine model alone may not identify the correct drive.

Can I run the engine without water after installation?

No. Never operate a raw-water pump dry. Water lubricates and cools the neoprene impeller, and even brief dry running can damage the blades and lead to overheating.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement kit intended to replace the listed OEM and aftermarket references. It is not sold as an original equipment manufacturer component.

What should I verify before ordering?

Compare the complete pump application, reference number, impeller diameter and width, shaft diameter, drive configuration and cover-gasket arrangement with the part being replaced. If any of these details differ, do not rely on the engine family name alone.

Safety and Important Information

  • Close the seacock before removing the pump cover and follow the engine manufacturer's service procedures.
  • Do not operate the raw-water pump dry.
  • Verify the part dimensions, drive configuration and reference numbers before purchase.
  • Professional installation is recommended when the pump housing, shaft or cooling system requires inspection.
