Product Details

This aftermarket 10-blade marine flexible impeller is designed for raw-water and seawater cooling pumps. It is a replacement impeller for selected marine engine and pump applications, including specified Volvo Penta D4 inboard models. The impeller uses a neoprene body and a grooved spline-style socket drive for dependable water circulation when correctly matched to the pump.

Catalog references associate this impeller with Jabsco 17937-0001-P and Volvo Penta 3588475. Always compare the pump configuration, drive style, dimensions, and existing impeller before ordering.

  • Single replacement impeller; gasket and O-rings are not included.
  • 10 flexible neoprene blades for raw-water engine-cooling service.
  • Designed as a direct replacement where the listed dimensions and drive configuration match.
  • Do not operate a flexible impeller pump without water or suitable lubricant.

Installation Notes

  1. Shut off the engine and close the raw-water intake seacock.
  2. Remove the pump cover plate according to the engine or pump manufacturer's service procedure.
  3. Remove the old impeller carefully and note the blade direction and drive orientation.
  4. Clean debris and old gasket material from the pump housing and cover plate.
  5. Inspect the pump cover, housing, shaft, key or socket, and seal surfaces for wear or damage.
  6. Apply a water-based lubricant or glycerin to the impeller and pump chamber. Do not use petroleum-based lubricant on the neoprene impeller.
  7. Install the impeller with the blades bending in the direction required by the pump rotation.
  8. Install a suitable new gasket or seal for the pump. These parts are not included with this impeller.
  9. Reinstall the cover plate and tighten the fasteners evenly according to the pump manufacturer's procedure.

Maintenance & FAQ

How do I confirm that this impeller fits?

Compare the old impeller's reference number, blade count, outside diameter, width, drive or socket style, and pump configuration. For Volvo Penta applications, verify the complete D4 model and variant. A matching engine family alone does not confirm fitment.

Is this a complete impeller kit?

No. This listing is for one replacement impeller. Gaskets, O-rings, keys, and other service parts are not included.

What are the signs of a failing impeller?

Common signs include engine overheating, reduced water flow from the exhaust, damaged or missing blades, cracks, stiffness, and rubber debris in the cooling system.

How often should I replace the impeller?

Replacement intervals depend on the engine manufacturer's maintenance schedule, operating hours, water quality, and whether the pump has ever run dry. Inspect the impeller during scheduled service and replace it when wear or damage is found.

Can this impeller run dry?

No. Even brief dry running can create heat and damage the neoprene blades. Confirm that the seacock is open and water is available before operating the pump.

What lubricant should I use during installation?

Use a water-based lubricant or glycerin suitable for rubber impellers. Avoid petroleum-based products unless specifically approved by the pump manufacturer.

Is this an OEM part?

This is an aftermarket replacement impeller. The listed OEM and manufacturer references are provided only to identify compatible applications and should not be interpreted as an OEM-origin claim.

Safety & Important Information

  • Verify the part number, dimensions, blade count, and drive configuration against the original impeller before ordering.
  • Keep engine model, variant, year, serial-number range, pump, and drive conditions together when confirming fitment.
  • Never run the raw-water pump dry.
  • Professional installation is recommended when pump or engine service procedures are unfamiliar.
