Troubleshooting & FAQ
Will this skeg guard fit my specific engine?
This skeg guard is designed for MerCruiser Alpha One Generation II stern drives manufactured from 1991 to the present. Please verify your drive model and year before purchasing.
How much of my original skeg needs to be left for this to install?
You need a minimum of 2 to 3 inches of your original skeg remaining for a secure and proper installation.
Do I have to drill holes in my skeg?
Yes, installation requires drilling. The guard has pre-drilled mounting holes to use as a template. All necessary mounting hardware, including a drill bit, is included in the kit.
What is the purpose of the drain hole at the bottom?
The drain hole is a key design feature that allows water to escape, preventing it from getting trapped between the guard and the skeg. This helps to stop corrosion and protects against damage from freezing water in colder climates.
