Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this kit fits my Bravo drive?
The catalog application is all MerCruiser Bravo drives from 1982 onward, including Bravo I, Bravo II and Bravo III. Confirm the drive model and compare the original part number, component layout and bearing configuration before ordering.
What are common signs that the transom seals or bellows need replacement?
Common signs include water entering the bilge near the transom, visible cracking or deterioration of the bellows, corrosion around the transom assembly, or abnormal gimbal-bearing noise during operation.
Is a special tool needed to install the gimbal bearing?
Professional installation is recommended. A suitable bearing puller is normally required for removal, and a proper bearing installation driver should be used to install the new bearing straight without damaging it.
How often should the bellows and transom seals be inspected?
Inspect them at least annually and whenever the sterndrive is removed. Replace components at the first sign of cracks, hardening, abrasion, water intrusion or other deterioration.
Is this an OEM kit?
No. This is an aftermarket replacement kit for the listed Mercury Marine OEM references. It should be compared with the original parts and installed according to the applicable service manual.
What should I do if the supplied components differ from my original parts?
Do not force installation or substitute unrelated components. Stop and confirm the sterndrive model, original part number and service-manual requirements before proceeding.
