Can I clean and reuse the old filter?
No. The filter media is designed to trap microscopic particles. Attempting to clean it is ineffective and can damage the filter, leading to contamination of the high-pressure fuel system and injectors.
Is this the only fuel filter on my engine?
No. Most outboards have multiple fuel filters. This is the high-pressure filter located inside the VST. Your engine will also have a low-pressure filter, typically a canister or in-line type, located before the VST.
