Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
2. Drain the gearcase oil from the lower unit.
3. Unbolt and carefully remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard's midsection.
4. Remove the bolts securing the old water pump housing.
5. Slide the old housing, impeller, and wear plate off the driveshaft. Note the component order.
6. Thoroughly clean the driveshaft and mating surfaces, removing any old gasket material or sealant.
7. Install the new lower gasket, wear plate, and impeller key on the driveshaft.
8. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, rotating it clockwise to seat the blades correctly.
9. Align and install the new pump housing and cup assembly, securing it with the provided bolts. Torque to manufacturer specifications.
10. Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are properly aligned.
11. Refill the gearcase with fresh marine gear lube.
12. With the motor in water or connected to a flusher, start the engine and verify a steady stream of water from the tell-tale port.
