Installation Notes
- Before starting, disconnect the engine's battery and shift into neutral.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) afrom the outboard motor.
- Place the lower unit on a workbench and remove the bolts securing the water pump housing.
- Carefully lift off the housing. The old impeller will be visible on the driveshaft.
- Slide the old impeller off the shaft. Remove the old wear plate, liner, and any gasket residue.
- Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly to ensure a proper seal.
- Install the new wear plate and cup liner provided in the kit.
- Align the new impeller with the driveshaft key and slide it down. Rotate the driveshaft clockwise to help seat the impeller vanes correctly within the housing cup.
- Lightly apply marine grease to the interior of the pump cup and on the impeller.
- Reinstall the water pump housing, tightening the bolts in a crisscross pattern to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
- Reattach the lower unit to the outboard motor.
- Reconnect the battery, start the engine in a water source (using flush muffs or in the water), and verify that a steady stream of water is exiting the tell-tale port.
