Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this impeller is the right one for my motor?

This impeller fits specific Johnson/Evinrude models from 55 HP to 75 HP (1968-1978). The most reliable way to confirm fitment is to check your engine's model number and year against the compatibility table provided on this page. Also, compare our listed OEM and aftermarket part numbers with your existing part.

What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?

Common signs include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or non-existent "telltale" water stream, and a high engine temperature alarm. If you notice any of these symptoms, inspect the impeller immediately.

How often should I replace my outboard's impeller?

As a preventative maintenance item, it is recommended to replace the impeller every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of operation, whichever comes first. This interval can be shorter if you frequently operate in sandy or debris-filled water.

Is this impeller resistant to saltwater?

Yes. The neoprene material is formulated to perform reliably in both freshwater and saltwater environments.

Does this listing include the water pump housing or gaskets?

No, this listing is for the impeller only. While this impeller is often included in complete water pump repair kits, this item is sold individually. Gaskets, wear plates, and housings must be purchased separately.

Why is my engine overheating even after replacing the impeller?

If overheating persists, check for other issues in the cooling system. This could include a clogged water intake, a bad thermostat, a blocked telltale outlet, or a worn-out water pump housing that is not sealing correctly against the new impeller.

What is the difference between an OEM and an aftermarket part?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). It is built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. All parts are manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility and batch-inspected for quality and consistency.

How fast is shipping and what does it cost?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit time is 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free for most orders, and expedited options will appear at checkout if they are available for your location.

What is the warranty and return policy?

This part is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If you encounter any issues, please contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window for unused items in their original condition. See our policy page or reach out for instructions.
