Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this kit fits my engine?
Compare your engine brand, exact model, horsepower, stroke type, and year with the compatibility table. Confirming the original water-pump part number, including 396644 or 0396644, is also recommended. Do not rely on horsepower alone when confirming fitment.
How often should I replace the water-pump impeller?
As a general maintenance guideline, inspect the impeller annually and replace it every 1–2 years or 100–200 operating hours, whichever comes first. More frequent service may be appropriate when operating in sandy, silty, or saltwater conditions.
What are the signs of a failing impeller?
Common signs include a weak or inconsistent tell-tale stream, an overheating alarm, higher-than-normal operating temperature, or visible cracking, distortion, or missing pieces on the impeller fins.
Does this kit include the entire water-pump housing?
No. This is an impeller service kit and does not include the main upper and lower pump housing. It is intended for use with a functional, undamaged original housing.
What tools are required for installation?
A standard set of marine mechanic’s tools may be required, including socket and ratchet sets, screwdrivers, pliers, and a torque wrench. Water-resistant marine grease is also recommended for installation.
Is this an OEM part?
No. This listing is for an aftermarket replacement kit. The listed OEM and aftermarket part numbers are provided as reference numbers for fitment comparison.
How quickly is the order shipped?
Standard shipping is free, and typical transit time is 5–15 days. Expedited shipping options appear at checkout where available.
What are the warranty and return terms?
The product is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. Returns are accepted within the standard return window when the item is unused and in its original condition. Contact support with your order details for assistance.
Safety & Important Information
- Confirm the engine model, year, stroke type, horsepower, and original part number before ordering.
- Compare the replacement components with the original parts before installation. If the components differ, do not install them until fitment is confirmed.
- This is an aftermarket replacement kit, not an OEM component.
- Professional installation is recommended when servicing the lower unit or water-pump assembly.
- Never operate the outboard without adequate water supply. After installation, verify cooling-water flow before normal use.
