Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this kit fits my engine?
Your first step is to check the detailed compatibility table in this listing. Compare your engine's brand, model, horsepower, and year range against the data provided. Verifying your OEM part number (396644) is the most reliable method.
How often should I replace the water pump impeller?
As a general maintenance guideline, impellers should be inspected annually and replaced every 1 to 2 years (or 100-200 operating hours), whichever comes first. This interval can be shorter if you frequently operate in sandy, silty, or saltwater conditions.
What are the signs of a failing impeller?
The most common sign is a weak or inconsistent water stream from the engine's tell-tale outlet. Other indicators include the engine overheating alarm sounding, higher-than-normal engine temperatures, or visible damage/cracking on the impeller fins during inspection.
Does this kit include the entire water pump housing?
No, this is an impeller rebuild kit without the main upper and lower plastic or metal housing. It is designed to service a pump with a functional, undamaged original housing by replacing all critical wear components inside it.
What tools are required for installation?
You will need a standard set of mechanic's tools, including socket and ratchet sets, a torque wrench, screwdrivers, and pliers. A water-resistant marine grease is also essential for lubricating the impeller and seals upon installation.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
Shipping speed & cost?
We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options appear at checkout where available.
Warranty & returns?
Covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If issues arise, contact support with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window (unused & in original condition). See our policy page or reach out for instructions.
