Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and follow the engine manufacturer’s safety procedures before starting work.
2. Remove the lower unit or gearcase from the outboard’s driveshaft housing. Disconnect the speedometer tube if required by the engine configuration.
3. Locate and unbolt the water-pump housing assembly. Keep track of bolt locations because bolt lengths may differ.
4. Remove the old housing and impeller from the driveshaft, then remove the old gaskets, wear plate, and applicable seals.
5. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly. Remove old gasket material, debris, and corrosion without damaging the sealing surfaces.
6. Install the replacement gaskets, O-rings, plate, and other applicable components from the kit in the correct order for your engine.
7. Install the new impeller on the driveshaft. Rotate the shaft clockwise as needed to seat the impeller vanes in the housing.
8. Install the new pump housing and tighten the fasteners to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
9. Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring that the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly aligned.
10. Reconnect the battery. Start and test the engine only in an appropriate water supply or test tank, and confirm a steady tell-tale stream before normal operation.
