Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable before starting work.
2. Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard's driveshaft housing. You may need to disconnect a speedometer tube.
3. Locate and unbolt the water pump housing assembly. Note the orientation of the bolts as they may be different lengths.
4. Slide the old housing and impeller off the driveshaft. Remove the old gaskets, wear plate, and any seals.
5. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces, removing any old gasket material or corrosion.
6. Install the new gaskets, O-rings, and wear plate from the kit.
7. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft. Turn the shaft clockwise to help seat the impeller vanes correctly inside the housing.
8. Install the new pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.
9. Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are properly aligned.
10. Reconnect the battery, start the engine in water, and confirm a steady stream of water from the tell-tale outlet.
