Product Details

This dorsal-fin-style Hydrofoil Stabilizer is designed for outboard motors and stern drives in the 5–150 HP range. Mounted on the anti-ventilation plate, it provides additional stern lift to help the boat plane more quickly, reduce bow rise and porpoising, and improve low- to mid-speed handling. It is intended for use with a wide range of Yamaha, Mercury, Mariner, Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Johnson, Evinrude, MerCruiser, and OMC applications, subject to verification of the mounting area and available clearance.

This aftermarket stabilizer is listed as a replacement or cross-reference for SeaSierra FO2001, UanofCn FO2001, QuickMarine HS001, Xingrong HS001, and NorthBoat HS001 references. Cross-reference numbers are provided for identification only; verify the shape, dimensions, mounting-hole layout, and clearance before installation.

  • Mounts to the anti-ventilation plate using a bolt-on installation.
  • Made from durable marine-grade reinforced PA66 nylon plastic.
  • Includes stainless steel mounting hardware for installation.
  • Designed to provide additional lift and stability during acceleration and cruising.

Engine & Model Compatibility

The stabilizer is intended for compatible outboard motors and stern drives rated from 5 to 150 HP. Because anti-ventilation-plate dimensions and mounting layouts can vary, confirm the physical fit before drilling or installation.

Installation Notes

  1. Turn off the engine and secure the boat on a trailer, lift, or other stable support.
  2. Position the hydrofoil centrally on the anti-ventilation plate and check that it does not interfere with the propeller, trim system, or other components.
  3. Use the hydrofoil mounting holes to mark the drilling locations.
  4. Remove the hydrofoil and drill the marked holes using an appropriately sized drill bit.
  5. Place the hydrofoil back on the plate and align the holes.
  6. Insert the stainless steel bolts from the top and install the nuts from below.
  7. Tighten the hardware securely without overtightening, which could crack or damage the plate.
  8. Check that the stabilizer is firmly mounted and does not move before operating the boat.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Will this fit my specific motor?

This stabilizer is intended for compatible outboard motors and stern drives in the 5–150 HP range. Confirm the anti-ventilation-plate dimensions, mounting area, hole spacing, propeller clearance, and trim-system clearance before installation. The listed product dimensions are 10-1/4 in × 8-1/4 in.

What is the benefit of the dorsal-fin design?

The dorsal-fin profile and hydrofoil wings are designed to influence water flow around the lower unit and provide additional lift and stability. Actual results vary with hull design, engine setup, load, trim, and operating conditions.

Can this hydrofoil reduce porpoising?

A hydrofoil can help reduce porpoising by adding stern lift and helping the hull maintain a more consistent running attitude. It is not a substitute for correct trim, weight distribution, or proper engine setup.

Do I need to drill holes in my engine?

Installation requires drilling mounting holes in the anti-ventilation plate of the outboard motor or stern drive. Do not drill into the engine housing or gearcase. Use suitable tools and follow safe marine-installation practices.

Will this affect my boat’s top speed?

Hydrofoils may affect top speed, acceleration, handling, and fuel consumption because they change the water flow around the lower unit. Results vary by boat and setup; verify that the stabilizer is suitable for your application before installation.

How often should I check the mounting hardware?

Inspect the mounting bolts and nuts during regular pre-launch checks, particularly after the first few uses. Check for looseness, corrosion, cracking, or movement at least once each season and retighten or replace hardware as necessary.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This is an aftermarket hydrofoil stabilizer. The cross-reference numbers identify comparable aftermarket references and should not be interpreted as a claim that the product is manufactured by an engine or boat manufacturer.

How can I confirm compatibility?

Compare the stabilizer dimensions and mounting-hole layout with your anti-ventilation plate. Confirm clearance around the propeller and trim system, and consult a qualified marine technician if you are unsure about drilling or installation.

Safety & Important Information

  • Verify the product dimensions, mounting layout, and available clearance against your application before purchase.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement and is not an OEM component.
  • Installation requires drilling the anti-ventilation plate; professional installation is recommended if you are not experienced with marine hardware installation.
  • Inspect the installation before each use and do not operate the boat if the stabilizer or mounting hardware is loose or damaged.
