What’s in the Box

  • 1 x Oil Pan Gasket (Replaces 861250/24419772)

Installation Notes

  1. Ensure the engine is cool and all power sources are disconnected.
  2. Place a suitable drain pan under the engine and remove the oil drain plug to empty all engine oil.
  3. Unscrew the mounting bolts holding the oil pan in place. Keep track of bolt locations if they differ in length.
  4. Carefully tap the side of the pan with a soft mallet or pry gently at reinforced points to break the seal. Avoid bending the pan.
  5. Once loose, remove the old oil pan and its gasket.
  6. Thoroughly clean all old gasket material, sealant, and oil residue from both the engine block and the oil pan's mating surfaces. A plastic scraper can prevent gouging.
  7. Align the new gasket onto the clean, dry oil pan. Ensure all bolt holes line up perfectly.
  8. Re-install the oil pan. Hand-tighten the bolts first, then tighten them to the manufacturer's specified torque in the correct sequence (typically a crisscross pattern from the center outwards).
  9. Reinstall the oil drain plug, using a new washer if required.
  10. Refill the engine with the manufacturer-recommended oil type and quantity.
  11. Start the engine and carefully inspect the entire perimeter of the oil pan for any signs of leaks.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if my oil pan gasket needs replacement?

Common signs include visible oil leaks dripping from the bottom of the engine, a low oil level warning light, or the smell of burning oil. Check the area where the oil pan meets the engine block for wetness or heavy grime buildup, which indicates a leak.

Will this gasket fit my specific engine model?

This gasket is designed for Volvo Penta 30, 31, and 32 series diesel engines. To ensure a perfect fit, please review the compatible models listed in the "Engine & Model Compatibility" section and verify it matches your specific engine.

Do I need to use sealant with this gasket?

This cork/rubber compound gasket is designed for a direct, dry-fit installation. However, some engine service manuals recommend applying a small amount of RTV sealant at corner joints or where other components meet. Always consult your engine's service manual for the most accurate instructions.

What is the correct way to tighten the oil pan bolts?

Proper tightening is critical to prevent leaks. Always tighten bolts in the sequence specified by the manufacturer (usually a spiral or cross pattern starting from the center) and to the correct torque value. Over-tightening can crush or split the gasket, while under-tightening will fail to create a seal.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
