Product Details

This aftermarket Vapor Separator Tank (VST) fuel filter is a replacement filter for selected Yamaha and Mercury Mariner 4-stroke outboard fuel systems. It installs inside the VST or fuel-injection pump assembly to help screen contaminants before fuel reaches the high-pressure fuel pump.

Company fitment information identifies this filter for Yamaha F115, F200 and F225 V6 outboards. Catalog references also associate the corresponding filter with selected Mercury 115 EFI and 225 EFI 4-stroke applications, subject to the model, serial-number range and service-manual conditions shown below.

  • VST fuel filter for gasoline outboard fuel systems.
  • Internal installation inside the VST or fuel-injection pump assembly.
  • Single replacement filter; no gasket or other VST components are included.
  • Aftermarket replacement, not an OEM-branded component.

Part Number References

Use the original filter and engine parts diagram to confirm the correct application before ordering. The references below are cataloged replacement or cross-reference numbers for this filter.

Engine & Model Compatibility

Fitment depends on the complete model designation, year and serial-number range. Do not rely on horsepower alone; compare the original part number and the engine parts diagram before installation.

Installation Notes

  1. Safety First: Work in a well-ventilated area away from sparks and open flames. Disconnect the battery and follow the engine manufacturer's service procedure.
  2. Depressurize the Fuel System: Relieve fuel pressure safely before opening the VST or fuel-injection pump assembly.
  3. Confirm the Application: Verify the engine model, year and serial-number range, and compare the old filter with the replacement before disassembly.
  4. Access the Filter: Remove the required VST or fuel-injection pump cover and note the filter orientation and seating position.
  5. Replace the Filter: Remove the old filter and install the replacement in the same orientation. Do not reuse a damaged seal or gasket; this product does not include a gasket.
  6. Reassemble and Test: Reinstall the cover and all components, reconnect the battery, prime the fuel system and inspect carefully for fuel leaks before starting the engine.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Where is this filter installed?

This is an internal VST fuel filter used in the vapor separator or fuel-injection pump assembly. It is not the external low-pressure or water-separating fuel filter.

Does this product include a gasket?

No. The company record identifies this product as a single filter. A gasket or float-chamber seal is not included.

How do I know whether my engine uses this filter?

Match the complete engine model, year and serial-number range with the fitment information and compare the original filter's part number. Horsepower alone is not sufficient to confirm fitment.

What symptoms can indicate a restricted VST filter?

Possible symptoms include hesitation, sputtering, loss of power under load or failure to reach normal operating RPM. These symptoms can have multiple causes, so diagnose the complete fuel system before replacing parts.

Can I clean and reuse the old filter?

Replacement is recommended when the filter is contaminated, damaged or restricted. Cleaning may not remove fine particles and can damage the filter media.

Is this an OEM component?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement for the listed OEM and aftermarket reference numbers. Mercury, Yamaha and Sierra are referenced only for identification and compatibility purposes.

Safety & Important Information

  • Confirm the exact engine model, year, serial-number range and original part number before ordering.
  • Do not assume compatibility with every 115 HP, 200 HP or 225 HP outboard.
  • Use the engine service manual for fuel-system disassembly, pressure relief and reassembly procedures.
  • Inspect for fuel leaks before operating the engine.
  • Professional installation is recommended when working on pressurized gasoline fuel systems.
